Figure shows the result of my own matching operation. The sky is a little too yellow, and the image has lost too much contrast, but it's an intriguing approach and as good a place to start with photo manipulation as any.

Figure. Before,After(1-2-3-4) , and matching image for using the Classic Color Match technique.

How does the Color Match work with the Kennedy photo group? The results are less than spectacular. Two of the images are close enough that color match's effort is acceptable, but the differences among all the photos are enough that no one image can be used as the matching image with the other photos.

I have found that Color Match works well when there is some agreement on light values on the images before the color matching .Even if the subjects differ, it matters more that the overall image tone is similar.I've found less than acceptable results when the images differ dramatically in light values, even if the subjects matchor the photos were taken in the same general area.In these cases,it's better to adjust the photos manually, rather than use automatic settings.

Besides, why should an algorithm have all the fun?Preparing a photo for publication is the funnest part of the photographic process----photography doesn't end after you press the shutter.
